In Marbella the market is on Mondays, with 360 stalls, and on Thursdays in San Pedro de Alcántara. The Puerto Banús market is held on Saturdays and Las Chapas on Fridays. From June to August the Puerto Banús craft fair opens every day. Close to Marbella, there are markets on Saturdays in Ojén and Istán.

Marbella is on the western Costa del Sol, in the province of Málaga. The municipality is long, and its markets are spread between the town centre, San Pedro de Alcántara, Puerto Banús and Nueva Andalucía to the west, and Las Chapas and Elviria to the east. Ojén and Istán, with markets on Saturdays, are the nearest inland towns.

What is sold at the Marbella markets

The Monday one, at the Las Albarizas fairground, is the big and most complete market: fruit and vegetables, clothing, footwear, bags, household goods, flowers and plants. It is what locals call el baratillo, and it mixes new and second-hand clothing. San Pedro de Alcántara, on Thursdays, goes the same way with 232 stalls of clothing, footwear, home textiles and kitchenware.

Puerto Banús, on Saturdays, is different: alongside the clothing there is ceramics, decoration, crafts and some art and antiques. Las Chapas, on Fridays, is the small one, with 30 stalls. Elviria also has an organic market on the first and third Saturday of the month, from 9:00 to 14:00, on Avenida de España. There is no weekly flea market: the charity one at Parque de la Alameda runs only a few Sundays a year. The two Sunday craft markets are no longer held.

Getting there and parking

The fairground, on Avenida José Manuel Vallés, is a 10-minute walk from the centre; parking close by is difficult. Puerto Banús is set up on Avenida Pilar Calvo, in Nueva Andalucía, next to Centro Plaza, on a slope with some uneven paving: awkward with a pushchair. San Pedro takes up Calle Jorge Guillén, at the old fairground, and Las Chapas, Calle Pinsapo, in Pinar de Elviria.

Tips for going

All four weekly markets close at 14:00: go before 13:00, when the stalls start coming down. Bring cash: not every trader takes cards. The Puerto Banús craft fair, on Plaza Antonio Banderas, opens from 11:00 to midnight Monday to Thursday and until 1:00 from Friday to Sunday.
