Peñíscola market is held every Monday from 9:00 to 13:00 in the car park on Avenida Akra Leuka, beside the Playa Sur, with 110 stalls.
Its strong suit is second-hand and vintage clothing at very low prices, with piles of garments from one euro. What is on offer changes every week and it rewards patience. Around it there are trainers, bags and fashion accessories, seasonal fruit and vegetables from the area, cured meats, cheeses, kitchenware and plants, and somewhere inside the market to get a drink.
The car park is closed to vehicles from 6:00 to 17:00 on market day, so look for a space nearby. The council reserves it for Mondays that are not public holidays: if the Monday is a holiday, do not count on the market. Most stalls do not take cards.
From June to September the town also has the Peñíscola hippie market, a craft market in the old town in the evening.
