Los Cristianos market is held every Tuesday and Sunday from 9:00 to 14:00 on Avenida Juan Carlos I, next to the Arona Gran Hotel and a few minutes' walk from Los Cristianos beach.

When is Los Cristianos market?

It runs all year round, with the same hours on both days. It is busiest mid-morning; at 9:00 you can browse in peace. Arona's local holidays are Carnival Tuesday and the feast of the Cristo de la Salud in early October: Carnival Tuesday falls on a market day, so check beforehand that day.

Where is the market?

On Avenida Juan Carlos I, next to the Arona Gran Hotel. You can walk there from the seafront and from Los Cristianos beach, and if you're staying in Las Américas you can stroll along the coast. There are bars and terraces on the same avenue for a drink afterwards.

What you'll find

Mostly clothing, bags, belts, sunglasses and costume jewellery, plus Tenerife souvenirs, perfumes and toys. Among them are a few craftspeople and stalls that personalise items while you wait, with engraving or embroidery. There are no food or drink stalls: it is a market for clothes and gifts.

Tips

It isn't very big: you can see it all in under an hour. Between the stalls, packed close together under their awnings, it gets very hot, especially around midday, so go early and bring water. Many stalls sell the same things and prices vary from one to the next: walk round before you buy, and haggling is the norm. In the narrow, crowded aisles, keep your bag closed and in front of you. Parking nearby is hard: spaces in the area fill up early on market days.
