Sant Pere Pescador Market

Sant Pere Pescador market is held on Wednesdays from 8:00 to 14:00 on the Molí car park, along the Camí de la Mota. Sant Pere is a small village in the Alt Empordà, but its market offers more than its size would suggest: in summer, the locals are joined by northern European holidaymakers from the campsites nearby.

The fresh section is not the largest, but it is the one people praise: fruit, vegetables, cured meats, cheese and bread from the area, at steady prices. Most of the route is clothing — inexpensive new garments, some second-hand, bags, footwear and accessories — and the bazar and household stalls close it off, with kitchenware, tools, toys and plants, including the bargain piles that reward a rummage.

It is a calm market, a long way from the summer crush of the coastal markets of the Alt Empordà. Some of the stalls spread out under the trees and into the side streets, which in August counts for a lot.
