Empuriabrava market is held on Saturdays from 9:00 to 14:00 along the Passeig Marítim, stretching several hundred metres with stalls on both sides. It is one of the largest in Girona province and has a very particular crowd: many European residents from the canal district, and many holidaymakers passing through.
The layout is a straight line that is easy to walk, and the split is clear: most of the route is clothing, footwear, bags, sunglasses, belts and costume jewellery, while at the end nearest the Muga canal the food takes over — fruit, vegetables, cured meats, cheese, bread, sweets and olives — alongside stalls selling churros with chocolate, sandwiches and tapas, some with tables facing the sea.
By mid-morning the promenade fills up and progress slows. Arriving before 9:30 means walking it comfortably and sorting out parking, which fills quickly in July and August.
