Santa Pola market is held on Mondays from 7:00 to 13:30 and on Saturdays from 7:00 to 14:00, with up to 420 stalls. It is one of the largest markets in the province of Alicante, and locals also call it the Mercado de Viguetas.
It takes up the site bounded by the municipal cemetery, Avenida Portus Ilicitanus, Avenida de Albacete and the municipal sports grounds, and it is set out in two sections.
The general section, with 340 stalls, sells clothing, footwear and accessories, household textiles, cleaning products, plants and flowers, crafts, pet supplies, small appliances, electronics and cultural goods. The food section has 80 stalls on Saturdays and only 20 on Mondays: fruit, vegetables, fish, cured meats, cheeses and nuts, plus up to 15 authorised food trucks serving ready-made food.
Second-hand goods may not be sold here, apart from vintage clothing and antiques. If the day falls on an official public holiday the market does not set up, though the council can authorise extra days with 15 days' notice.
On Saturdays the town also holds the Santa Pola food market, beside the Mercado Central.
