Torremolinos Market

Torremolinos market is held on Thursdays from 9:00 to 14:00 at the fairground, next to the bullring, with around 70 stalls.

On a coast crowded with markets, this one is small, and that is exactly what sets it apart: fewer stalls, fewer people and a slower pace. Its range covers fashion, accessories, crafts, souvenirs and a second-hand section that draws much of the interest. It does not compete in size with the big markets of the district, but it has its own character as a weekly walk for residents and visitors who would rather avoid the crowds.

What is sold. Clothing and accessories are the base, with stalls of bags, sunglasses and costume jewellery. Beside them, a selection of craft goods and souvenirs. The second-hand section, the one regulars rate highest, gathers books, vinyl, tools, toys and decorative pieces: the range is limited, but unusual finds turn up fairly often.

Going. The pace is easy and you can walk the market without rush or elbows, which is not common on the busier coastal markets. Those after the second-hand goods tend to arrive early, because that is the part with least restocking and the best pieces go quickly. If the Thursday falls on a public holiday, the council may cancel the market. The same fairground hosts the Torremolinos flea market on Sundays, for antiques and vintage.
