Figueres Fruit and Vegetable Market

Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, from 8:30 to 13:30. The days and hours are confirmed by Figueres town council's website.

Saturday is the big day, with the most stalls trading; Thursday is quieter.

It is split between the Plaça del Gra and the Plaça Catalunya, under permanent canopies arranged by section.

It is often listed as being on the Plaça del Gra alone: it takes up both squares.

• Seasonal fruit and vegetables: apples, pears, oranges, tomatoes, courgettes, aubergines, onions, spinach, potatoes and garlic, much of it from growers and smallholders in the district.

• Cured meats and cheeses: fuet, secallona, ham, chorizo, aged and fresh cheeses, alongside French products such as comté or roquefort. Several stalls offer tastings and cut to order.

• Bread, honey and pantry goods: country and walnut bread, rosemary and wildflower honey, dressed olives, roasted nuts, loose pulses and organic produce.

• Flowers, plants and herbs: around the outer edge — ornamental plants, cacti, herbs, cut flowers and vegetable seedlings.

The underground car park on the Plaça del Gra is the easiest option, but on Saturdays it fills before ten: aim to arrive earlier.

Most stalls do not take cards, so bring cash. And if you plan to leave loaded with fruit and cured meat, a trolley or a large bag saves trouble.
