La Mata Market

La Mata weekly market is held on Wednesdays on Avenida de Francia and the surrounding streets. The stalls take up several stretches of this Torrevieja neighbourhood and run from 8:00 to 14:00 all year round.

The food stalls sell fruit, vegetables, cheese, cured meats, olives, nuts, bread and prepared food. There is also clothing, footwear, bags, costume jewellery, flowers, plants, kitchen utensils and small household goods. Exactly what you find changes with the traders present each week.

The market is entirely outdoors and there is no continuous shade. Crowds and the pressure on the nearby streets grow through the summer months, when La Mata's population rises. The stalls are spread along Avenida de Francia and its immediate surroundings, so it is worth walking more than one stretch to see the whole market.
