The Punta Arabi Hippy Market, in Es Canar, is the oldest hippy market in Ibiza: it has been running since 1973 and today brings together more than 400 stalls, which also makes it the biggest on the island. It is set up on Wednesdays along Avinguda de Punta Arabi, next to the resort of Es Canar, in the municipality of Santa Eulària des Riu.

What is sold

Fashion, jewellery and art by makers, with natural-fibre clothing and the own-design work that gave the island's hippy markets their name well to the fore. The size of the site means you will find everything from the craftsperson's stall to the holiday souvenir stand.

What the visit is like

It opens at ten in the morning and it is a market in full sun: it pays to go early, because by mid-morning the aisles are packed and in July and August the heat is fierce. The season runs from mid-May to late October; the rest of the year it is not set up.
